Michigan star lineman Zak Zinter carted off with leg injury
Michigan star offensive lineman Zak Zinter was carted off the field with a serious leg injury late in the third quarter against Ohio State on Saturday.
Zinter, a senior guard, was injured on an 18-yard pass from J.J. McCarthy to tight end AJ Barner with 2:19 left in the third quarter. Zinter's leg buckled as he was blocking, and he was immediately attended to by medical personnel.
Zinter was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital. The severity of his injury is unknown, but it is expected that he will miss the rest of the season.
Zinter is a key member of the Michigan offensive line, and his loss will be a major blow to the Wolverines. Zinter is a two-time All-Big Ten selection, and he was named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press in 2022.
The Wolverines are still in contention for the Big Ten championship, but they will have to do it without one of their best players.
Update: Zinter's mother, Tiffany, said on social media that her son suffered a broken tibia and fibula. She said that he had surgery on Saturday night and that he is expected to make a full recovery.
