Open AI’s Board Pushes Out Sam Altman, Its High-Profile C.E.O.
OpenAI's board of directors has ousted the company's co-founder and CEO, Sam Altman, after a review found that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board. In a statement, the company said that the board no longer has confidence in Altman's ability to lead OpenAI and that he will be stepping down immediately.
Mira Murati, OpenAI's chief technology officer, will take over as interim CEO while the company searches for a permanent replacement. Murati has been with OpenAI for five years and has played a key role in the company's development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology.
Altman's departure comes as OpenAI faces a number of challenges, including increasing scrutiny from regulators and concerns about the potential for its technology to be misused. The company has also been criticized for its lack of transparency and for failing to adequately address the ethical implications of its work.
