Revealed: 28-strong Māori All Blacks squad named for Japan tour

The Māori All Blacks selectors have named a 28-strong squad for their upcoming two-match series against Japan XV in Japan.The squad features a blend of seasoned players and exciting new talent, with seven players from the Blues who won Super Rugby Pacific included.

Here are some of the key players to watch:

  • Experienced returnees: Crusaders prop Joe Moody will return to the Māori All Blacks for the first time since 2015, bringing a wealth of experience to the forward pack.

  • Exciting Debutants: There are nine players in the squad making their Māori All Blacks debut, including midfielders Daniel Rona and Highlanders loose forward Nikora Broughton.

  • First Five-Eighth pairing: The Māori All Blacks will also be trialing a new first five-eighth partnership with Rivez Reihana and Taha Kemara.

Māori All Blacks Head Coach Ross Filipo said: "The DHL Super Rugby Pacific campaign provided us with a solid platform to select from as the competitiveness shown by the players is exactly what we need against Japan XV."

The two matches will be played in Osaka on July 2 and Tokyo on July 9.
