California secures federal assistance to support response to Park Fire

Recently, California was able to obtain federal money to help it respond to the Hawarden Fire in Riverside County, which is expanding quickly. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded the state a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) to help pay for firefighting and other emergency measures, according to Governor Gavin Newsom. 
For local, state, and tribal agencies fighting the fire, this award will cover up to 75% of qualified fire suppression expenses, providing critical resources and financial help.




Since it began, the Hawarden Fire has burned over 492 acres close to Riverside and prompted more than 2,500 residents to evacuate.
